Free Introductory Class

The introductory class is an overview of the fundamentals. We like to give our students the big picture in this short class and get them comfortable with all the basic body movements required for the sport. Expect to be introduced to some of the basic concepts and rules of the sport.

02

Boxing Bag Class

45-min. No experience necessary. Full-body strength and conditioning class with bags and resistance training. We provide you with everything you need to get started. You will focus on fundamental boxing combinations, footwork, and learn how to use classic boxing equipment, all while working on your strength, conditioning, and core.

03

Boxing All-Level Class

1-hour session of no-frills boxing that emphasizes real technique, training methods, and ring wisdom. These classes are designed to teach students of all backgrounds the true sport of boxing. As students advance in their skill set, they can begin to focus on more technical details, with a greater emphasis on defensive skills, fitness, strength, and conditioning. The drills and combinations in this class are challenging, both mentally and physically. The increased difficulty of this class not only leads to massive improvements for our students, but an increased enjoyment of the sport as well.

The next stop

Change is never easy. What to expect...

Will I get hurt?

Injuries are a part of any intense sport and should be expected during the course of your training and development. However, preventative care and maintaining a positive attitude will make all the difference in your recovery. If you experience an injury, make sure you get medical attention from a healthcare provider as soon as possible and inform your coaches at Paragon. Even if you are temporarily unable to participate, showing up to watch class and ask questions is a great way to continue learning.

How do I stay motivated to train?

We encourage our students to focus on what they want to achieve from training in boxing. Do you want to get in shape? Are you looking for a fun and challenging hobby? Do you dream of becoming a professional fighter? When you know your goal, write it down and review it. Writing down your goals for boxing will not only help you stay motivated to achieve them, but it will also help you remember why training is a priority during life's more hectic moments. We believe that when life is the most stressful, your training is the most beneficial.

I want to learn more. What should I do?

One on one instructional sessions are available and highly recommended for our boxing students. Our instructors offer a wide range of pricing options for private lessons, so don't hesitate to ask.

Do I have to go to the sparring classes?

No! Many of our kickboxing students from all levels do not attend the sparring classes, and you are under no obligation to do so. Every student's training goals are different, and we understand that many of our students have no interest in sparring. However, it is our job as instructors to push students out of their comfort zones, and we encourage our students to at least try one sparring class before they make a final decision. Some of our best students were adamant about having no interest in live sparring until they tried it and immediately fell in love.

How do I stay safe during sparring?

The best and safest approach to sparring is to focus on controlled movements and skill development, not winning. This way you will have more fun, learn faster, and have much happier training partners. Also, the easiest way to injure yourself in sparring is by throwing wild punches that end in hyperextension of the arms. So sparring "under control" will not only protect your training partners from injury, but yourself as well.

When do I graduate to a more advanced class?

Our instructors will notify you when they think you are ready to move onto the next level of instruction. Depending on a student's attendance and dedication to their craft, the amount of time spent at each level will vary widely. It is important to remember that the key to growing in this sport is consistency. Try to choose a training schedule you are able to stick with for the long haul without "burning out." Remember, this is a marathon not a sprint!

Do I have to wash my boxing gear after every class?

Yes! And wash yourself while you're at it. We are dedicated to maintaining immaculate hygiene at Paragon (our mats are washed and disinfected twice a day) and we expect the same from our students. Any contact sport exposes you to various bacterial and fungal infections, but you will be fine if you follow these steps:

  • Wash ALL your gear (shin guards, headgear, boxing gloves, etc..) after every lesson. DO NOT wear the same gear for more than one lesson, even on the same day. Gear that cannot be placed in a washing machine should be wiped down with disinfectant wipes
  • Shower after every class. It is important to shower as soon as possible, preferably with an antimicrobial soap (Arm Bar Soap is available at the front desk, though Head and Shoulders shampoo is also antimicrobial and may also be used as a body wash). There are two showers in the locker room available for students.
  • Wear your shoes in the locker rooms and bathrooms so you don't track germs onto the mats.
  • Regularly inspect your skin. If you suspect you have a skin infection, see a physician right away and DO NOT train until you are medically cleared to do so.
